It Ain't Easy: Behind the Scenes

A Behind The Scenes Look At The January 2008 Cover Photo Shoot

CREDIT: TDG COMMUNICATIONS

Join Derek Olson and Shawn Werner for a behind the scenes look at a cover-shoot from conceptualization to production. The planning process for each issue generally runs months in advance, that is unless Creative Director Monte Amende receives a bout of sudden inspiration. Such is the case for the January 2008 issue of Deadwood Magazine.

The models, props and clothing all had to be procured within a limited time frame of about two weeks. Initial efforts were met with trepidation, and when the time came to shoot the cover the decision had been made to render the background in Adobe photoshop. After hundreds of photos were shot, the final choice now had to be graphically enhanced. The ultimate product turned out to be one of the most fun and inviting covers we've had yet here at Deadwood Magazine.
