Deadwood Magazine
is distributed free of charge at nearly 300 locations in 400-mile ellipse extending from Sioux Falls to Buffalo, Wyoming and New Effington on the North/South Dakota border, to Chadron, Nebraska.

Approximately 95% of the distribution is in complimentary copies on area racks and newsstands; about five percent in paid subscriptions direct mailed to 43 states and Canada. Complimentary copies are mailed to AAA, other travel agencies and business places throughout the United States.

Major distributors of complimentary copies of the magazine:

1) Rushmore News, puts Deadwood Magazine on racks in selected locations, in South Dakota and Wyoming. The magazine is the ONLY free distribution publication handled by Rushmore News.

2) Certified, a national firm that's the largest  distributor in the area, delivers to several hundred high-traffic locations, including visitor information centers along the interstate, and to selected hotels, motels, restaurants, chamber offices and city visitor centers.  Visitor information center supervisors confirm that Deadwood Magazine is in high demand by travelers. Certified services distribution racks in small towns like Whitewood and Newell, South Dakota, or Wright and Douglas, Wyoming, as well as large towns like Rapid City and Sioux Falls.

Reader demand increases every year, clearly demonstrated by the growth of paid subscriptions to what basically began as a free publication. Deadwood Magazine had only one paid subscription when the first edition went to press in February of 1991 (and it really wasn't the publisher's mother!)

Many of Deadwood Magazine's first subscribers have renewed for the 14th consecutive year. Some subscriptions now extend through 2007. An 86% renewal rate clearly indicates the magazine has earned customer loyalty by providing more than just tourist information and advertising. Deadwood Magazine gives readers a piece of history, a sense of what the Black Hills is all about, and creates an emotional connection to the area. That's undoubtedly why the magazine is a "keeper" that visitors take home to share with friends and family. Reader inquiries frequently are come from magazines published several years prior, affirming the extended "shelf life" of each edition. Readers "collect" Deadwood Magazine by ordering back issues to complete their collection. (Some subscribers have ordered all back editions available.)

Each edition of  Deadwood Magazine delivers a targeted audience of more than 100,000 upscale readers fascinated by the romance of the Old West and hungry for information about our part of the country.
